Here is an intensely fired Iga tsubo-jar by Furutani Kazuya(b.1976); more about Furutani in other listings or in our archives. This jar shows the varied 'landscapes' that bless a pot favored by the kiln gods, and the potter's skill at loading and firing his/her kiln. We see many landscapes--keshiki in Japanese--on this tsubo including bidoro-glass rivulets, shell imprints, orange hi-iro 'clay flavor'(tsuchi-aji), and scorch markings; all classic Iga trademarks. In perfect condition with a signed box, 20.5cm.tallx17.5, signed on base.
