Ajiki Hiro's chawan are a world onto themselves; or as Raku himself sometimes say a cosmos. Ajiki is well-known for his Basara salt-glazed checkered chawan and even the MET in NYC acquired one a few years ago. Each one is unique and we have two recently fired ones to offer. The first one is rounder and fuller with some ash glaze in the pool that most likely dripped from the kiln ceiling, a very fortuitous signal from the kiln gods! In perfect condition with a signed box, 10cm.tallx11.5; more about this important chawan potter in our archives or at e-yakimono.net. Please look for a Tsukamoto Haruhiko online exhibition next week.
