Bizen Vase by Fujiwara Ken

Bizen ceramist Fujiwara Ken (1924-1977) has to rank as one of my all-time favorite potters in Japan. His work is not flashy, yet quietly confident and full of grace. He worked with the best during his life, the Kaneshige brothers, Fujiwara LNTs, Noguchi and Rosanjin. Last year there was a 30-year 'passing' exhibition held in Okayama and there were some great works, and this vase would have been right at home beside them all. Great firing; a perfect vessel for flowers and a museum piece. In perfect condition with a signed box, 25.7cm.tall, signed on base. I was honored to have my writing about Fujiwara hanging on the wall at the aforementioned exhibition.....
