'Metamorphosis' Iron-Kohiki Jar by Kayama Tetsuya

A very radical jar in form and particularly the design of a butterfly and beetle set against chrysanthemums and leaves made by Kayama Tetsuya(b.1954.) Kayama is the eldest son of the famed painter Kayama Matazo and he studied in Iga with Banura Shiro after graduating from Tama Art University where he studied Japanese style painting. In 1989 he established his kiln in Oiso, Kanagawa. This is a museum piece that captures the senses on many levels. In perfect condition with a signed box, 30.2cm.tallx37.4x24.1, signed on base.
