One of Japan's greatest potters of all time is Tsuji Seimei(b.1927). His anagama-fired works are exceptional and his forms contain pure Japanese aesthetics. He's a living legend, after Rosanjin the only potter to have a whole issue of TAIYO devoted solely to him; many potters here say "I want my pots to have spirit like Tsuji Seimei's work." More about Tsuji on e-yakimono.net. Here is a very fine Tsuji Shigaraki eared vase--the first Tsuji vase we've ever offered that dates to the 1970s; notice the naturalness of form--a true master at the wheel--and light 'toasty' ash covering next to the classic Shigaraki akarui-sabi 'clay flavor.' A museum piece and perfect vessel for Tea flowers. In perfect condition with a signed box, 24.4cm.tall, signed on base.
