Michiaki Kaneshige(1934-1995)was the first son of the first Living National Treasure for Bizen, Kaneshige Toyo(1896-1967). Michiaki was a great potter in his own right and had an illustrious career; more about him on our archives. This is a quietly confident sangiri--a Bizen firing technique where charcoal is introduced into the firing creating blue-gray-reddish 'Mars-Jupiter' flashing--tokkuri; it has fine balance and weight even though it appears quite light. A very fine tokkuri in perfect condition with a signed box, 13.1cm.tall, stamped on base with Michiaki's arrow, see here:e-yakimono.net/html/kaneshige-michiaki.htm
