A full rounded Shigaraki chawan by the late great potter Furutani Michio(1947-2000) found its way to us today, and it is quite divine indeed. The soft ash covering on the front is punctuated by a dark 'figure' of wood ash; all this was planned--in some way--by Furutani when he loaded his kiln. The back shows classic Shigaraki fire-color-hi-iro and the kodai-foot is also of note. In perfect condition with a signed box, 8.9cm.tallx13, signed on base. We also have a Furutani guinomi seen, no box and will be 30,000 yen. A box can be made and signed by his family for a bit extra.
