Hayashi Mamiko(b.1959) is an elegant ceramic artist who after graduating from prestigious Keio University started her ceramic career in 1985 studying with Ito Keiji at the Gifu City Ceramic Art Institute. She has had a gallery based career thereafter. This silver-white checkered box has the appearance of marble with a silver and gold motif inside and under the lid. I have spoken with Hayashi quite a few times about boxes and she often mentions how hard this form is to make. In perfect condition, 10cm.tallx16.8, signed on base, box is extra.
