Here are two masterpiece Bizen tokkuri showing the balance of what made 20th century Bizen become vital again and how that transformed into 21st century Bizen. The left tokkuri in the main photo is a yohen firing 'kimono lady leaning forward pouring sake' form by Kakurezaki Ryuichi(b.1950). The form is pure Kakurezaki taking the 'baton' from Living National Treasure Fujiwara Kei's (1899-1983) Momoyama period 16th century inspired 'pearl onion' form. Each has a truly superb firing and are museum quality works by these two major Bizen ceramic artists. The lively Kakurezaki is 13cm.tallx10x7.9, signed on base with a signed box, dating to 1991. The shibui Fujiwara is 14.5cm.tallx9, signed on base with a signed box, dating to the late 1950s-early 1960s. We also have a companion Kakurezaki guinomi, also now on reserve.
