The variety of tones and crackles that Takahashi Samon is able to achieve on his slip-powder kohiki wares is unsurpassed here in Japan. Here are four single-bud chabana vases that show such a variety in Takahashi's glazing scheme; yesterday's listing of chawan previews show more and on Friday we'll be offering many yunomi and guinomi as well. (Robert is off to Mashiko tomorrow to select Koinuma Michio works, stay tuned on that!). The four vases here are split with two having 'ears' and two without; each is between 18.5cm-19.4cm.tall and 8.6-9.6cm. wide, each signed on base with signed boxes.
