Set of Five Hakuji Yunomi by Ueda Tsuneji
Mingei potter Ueda Tsuneji (1914-1987) was master of the Kinozara-yama kiln in Kyoto which he opened in 1936. He fired many styles of which he is best known for shinsha, neriage and hakuji, the latter being white porcelain. Here is a rare set of five faceted--mentori--hakuji yunomi that offer a delightful way to enjoy green tea; the color of the tea will be clearly seen and the feel of each cup shows the hand of a master. Each in excellent condition with a single signed box, 8cm.tall. Ueda's work is in the Japan Folk Crafts Museum as well as many prominent private collections.
