Miwa Kazuhiko (b.1951) is a celebrated Hagi ceramic artist and member of the famous Miwa family; his father is LNT Miwa Jyusetsu, brother is KyusetsuXII, late brother Eizo and uncle is the late LNT Miwa Kyuwa (there is no other family like them in all of Hagi, closest might be the Kaneshige family in Bizen). Kazuhiko is a radical Hagi ceramic artist always challenging his art and taking Hagi in bold new directions now for decades. In 2006 he was awarded the Japan Ceramic Society Award (that year with Takegoshi Jun and Gold winner Kato Kiyoyuki) and his works are in national and regional museums here in Japan as well as world wide private collections. This thick 'platter' is titled 'Yuki no Asa' or Snow Morning and has a rippling classic white Hagi glaze and a sparkling 'golden sun' oval opening; a brilliant work that stands on four pods; it dates to 1997. A museum piece in perfect condition with a signed box, 3.8cm.tallx38x25.5, signed on base
