Sakai Kobu(b.1936) was named a Toki City Intangible Cultural Property for his Shino wares; Toki is the birthplace of Shino in the 16th century. Sakai's Shino is not in any way shape or form utsushi-copies of 16th century masterpieces, yet take from the masterpieces of that time to create masterpieces for our time. Here are four very distinctive Sakai guinomi--only Sakai can create these forms and glazes--that are truly a joy to drink sake from, or simply gaze upon. Each in perfect condition with signed boxes, basic guinomi sizes, exact dimensions on request, all signed on Sakai's unique kodai-foot, where the clay is alive.
