By the famous William B. Kerr, turn-of-the-century jewelry maker, this sterling winged cherub is a watch pin. It is 1 1/2 x 3/4" and has a hook to suspend...whatever you like. Picture #2 shows it with a modern dragon claw holding a crystal ball [not included]. Marked Kerr sterling 176. Circa 1900.

Plique a jour, that unusual, difficult, and beautiful enamelling technique that gives a stained glass effect dates from the 15th century. It was used by Cellini, and revived in the late 1800s in France. This plique a jour pendant is centered with an oval opal and accented with eight colorless brilliants and a fresh water pearl dropper. The translucent enamel is an unusual and lovely blue in color. The metal is 900 silver, suggesting that the piece is most likely German or Austrian in origin. T ...click for details
