Mikami Ryo (1959-) - Sake Flask
Glazed ceramic (Kohiki)
H: 13.5 cm (5 1/4 in) / D: 9 cm (3 1/2 in)
A white Kohiki style Sake bottle by Mikami Ryo. Born 1959 in Hokkaido. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1986 (Master in Ceramics). Invited in 1986 to the 33rd Exhibition of Japanese Traditional Art Crafts and in 1988 to the 35th Exhibition of Japanese Traditional Art Crafts. After teaching as a seasonal professor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Mikami studied under the late Asano Yo. Currently lives in Minami-Ashigara, Kanagawa Prefecture. As a full member of Nihon Kogei-kai, he has held many solo exhibitions. (Information courtesy of Robert Yellin).
