A celadon-colored jade pig of elegant shape and proportions. Unlike Han pigs which are stylized, this is sleek and more realistic. Jin pigs are rarer than Han pigs. The pig signifies wealth and prosperity in the Chinese culture. The celadon coloration of this jade is complex and translucent in some areas. There is a hole bored under the tail for stringing and attaching to the belt. I have included a reference book photos of a similar pig in the National Museum in China. ...click for details

A gilt figure of Avalokitesvara standing in tribhanga, holding a flask in the left hand. The head encircled by an open halo. There are areas where the gilding has worn off through age. Period: Sui (581 - 618 AD) Size: Height = 11.7 cm, Width (at base) 2.6 cm.

A bronze bell with the top of the dome around the handle having 8 lotus petals containing tibetan symbolic writing. Under this is a band with a pattern of alternating "dorje" and 4-leafed designs. About a centimeter above the lower rim of the bell is band of 59 standing "dorje" (diamond thunderbolts). Trident-handled Tibetan bronze bells of this age are very rare to come by. A charming brushpot inlaid with mother-of-pearl, ivory and hardstones. The inlay work is of branch with flowering plum blossoms. The back has a poem of archaic Chinese characters inlaid in silver. The wood is a dark hardwood (unidentified) of a slightly reddish tint.
