| A rare crystal ring from the Pyu dynasty carved with a fish, the sea and a crescent moon. The fish is a early Buddhist symbol for incarnation carried over from Hinduism. The Fish (matsya) were originally symbolic of the rivers Ganges and Yamuna, but came to represent good fortune in general, for Hindus, Jain and Buddhists. Within Buddhism it also symbolizes that living beings who practice the dharma need have no fear to drown in the ocean of suffering, and can freely migrate (chose their rebirth) like fish in the water. Age: Over 1000 years old. Size: W. 2.8cm. Inside ring diameter. 1.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Natural inclusions. | |||||||||||
