I have owned this Jade Ge for a number of years and am convinced that it is a very old piece. The Jade appears to be a mutton fat type of jade. Having worked with jade in the past, I can recognize the "orange peal surface" that makes getting a fine polish on Jade so difficult. The tip of the Ge has been worn down for some unknown reason. This is a very unusual and interesting Jade. If it is Neolithic or even ancient it could be very valuable. The Ge is 4.65"long, 1.63"wide, an ...click for details
This is an extremely well carved and polished Han Dynasty or Han style Jade Bi. I cannot authenticate it as Han, due to my very limited knowledge of Jade. I do however know when a piece is well crafted and without the usual artificial aging. The Bi is approx. 3.3" ion diameter and approx. .2" thick. I looks to be hand crafted and polished. This is a beautiful and finely carved Brush Washer. One end contains a ring that was carved integrally with the Brush Washer. The carving is nothing short of museum quality. The Brush Washer measures a full 7.25 inches in length, is 4.0 inches wide and 1.5 inches in depth. The pictures do not do justice to the high degree of artistry required to create such a piece. This is a fine old 19th century Brush Washer. In the last two pictures I have attempted to show the fine carving and the utilization of the Jade inclusions in the overall background. Close inspection shows how the Carver has used otherwise incised lines to as tree trunks for the trees, and the double lines to indicate a path through the landscape. The Brush Washer measures 6.0" in length, 4.0" in width and stands 1.5" in height.

I won this very unusual Chinese Jade Ku/Pi at auction around 1985. The auction was an Estate auction that had been under lock and key for over fifty years until the estate was settled. The estate name was not revealed per the Will. This auction represented about 15% of the total estate but brought in over ten million dollars. The quality of the items that were at auction brought bidders from around the world. The auction was by invitation only but fortunately the appraiser was a friend.I have st ...click for details
