This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced by Klemm Dresden in the late 19th century. Klemm purchased the porcelain blank from Donath Dresden porcelain manufacturers and decorated it. This is the explanation of the two different marks on the cup and saucer. We can verify it in our reference materials. The cup features an Empire style handle that sweeps up over the rim of the cup. The decoration on this set is elaborate. There is a central cartouche on the front of the cup containing a scene of lovers in a garden landscape. The scene is entirely hand painted. Intricate gilding covers the rest of the cup. Just inside the rim is more lacy gold trim. You will find a repeat of this decoration on the saucer. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold.
Condition: There is thinning of gilding in the well of the saucer. The edge of the saucer has a defect in the porcelain that the factory tried to paint over. Both of these flaws are minimal and do not affect the enjoyment of this beautiful set.

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Copeland in 1858. The saucer is 5 1/2 inches in diameter and
1 1/4 inches deep. The cup is 2 3/8 inches high. It is made of fine, white bone china. This is one of the most elaborately decorated cups and saucers we have found in the course of our thirty plus years in the antiques business. There is a meticulously hand painted mountain and lake view in a reserve on the cup and a castle scene on the saucer. They are both framed with elaborate gilding. A cream colored 1 inch border holds magnificent bouquets of flowers punctuated by sprightly hummingbirds. There are pink bands at the rims decorated with gilded vines. There is an intricate gold medallion inside the cup. You will find the names of these locations on the bottoms of the cup and saucer written in gold. This cup and saucer is a superb work of art for the discerning collector.
