George William Sotter, Landscape with House and Trees
Landscape with House and Trees, George William Sotter 1879 - 1953, tempera on gessoed masonite, 6" by 8", signed verso, 12 1/2" by 14 3/8" housed in 22K gold leaf frame with linen liner, multiple gallery/auction tags verso, no apparent restorations. Artist studied Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art with Henry Keller, Thomas Anshutz, William Merritt Chase; in Bucks County under Edward Redfield and William Langston Lathrop in 1902. Taught design and painting at Carnegie Institute of Technology 1910-1919. Member of Allied Artists of America. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Institute, Corcoran Gallery Biennial, National Academy of Design, Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915, Pennsylvania Academy, Phillips Mill, New Hope, St. Louis Exposition-Worlds Fair of 1904.
