| Realist/Impressionist Frank Convers Mathewson 1862 1941, Little Compton Garden 1919, watercolor on paper, 7 5/8" by 9 5/8" sight, signed and dated lower right, identified and dated lower left, 14 1/4" by 16 1/4" framed under glass in gilded frame with linen covered mat, APF Inc., Framemakers and Conservators, NYC label verso, no apparent restorations. Artist studied Academie Julian with Jean Paul Laurens and at National School of Decorative Arts in Paris. Also studied abroad in Munich and with Frank Dumond in Italy. Elected one-time President of Providence Watercolor Club. Member American Watercolor Society, New York Watercolor Society, North Shore Art Association, Salmagundi Club. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, National Academy of Design, Boston Art Club, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, St. Louis Exposition, World's Fair 1904, Providence Art Club. | ||
