| Landscape painter, etcher, muralist Nell Danely Brooker Mayhew 1875 - 1940, The Live Oak, oil on canvas, 18 1/4" by 22 1/4", signed lower right and titled on stretcher with original price of $450, 27 1/4" by 31 1/4" housed in period Newcomb-Macklin frame, underwent AIC guideline conservation 2005 including consolidation and minor inpainting, report available. Artist studied Art Institute of Chicago and University of Illinois with John Johansen and Newton A. Wells. Moved to Los Angeles in 1908 and taught at College of Fine Arts at USC and Chounard School of Art for many years. Member of California Art Club and Society of Independent artists. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago and Society of Independent Artists. | ||
