Paul Turner Sargent, Twilight
Illinois landscape painter, Paul Turner Sargent 1880 - 1946, oil on canvas, 7 1/2" by 9 1/2" sight, unsigned, affidavit from estate, 12" by 14" framed in gilded, painted period frame, no apparent restorations. Artist was charter member of the Brown County Art Association and exhibited at the Hoosier Salon for over twenty years. Studied with John Harlow, Anna Piper, and Otis Caldwell at Eastern Illinois State; and with John Vanderpoel, Charles Francis Browne, and Henry Stevens at Art Institute of Chicago. He left Chicago 1920 to build his studio in Charleston, Illinois. Taught Eastern Illinois State College 1938-1942.
