| Painter, graphic artist, educator George A. Renouard 1885 - 1954, The Lobsterman's Shack in Winter, oil on canvas board, 10 5/8" by 14 7/8", signed lower left, 17" by 21 1/4" housed in gilded, carved reproduction frame, no apparent restorations. Artist was born in Rochester, New York and later moved to New York City. Studied at the Pratt Institute & Erasmus Hall in Brooklyn and at the Art Students League in NYC, where he later became an instructor. Painted throughout New York, frequenting the Catskills and Long Island, and the Massachusetts coast, Rockport, Gloucester, and Cape Ann. Exhibited American Federation of the Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Salmagundi Club. | ||
