Frank A. Barney, Woodland Stream
Frank A. Barney 1862 - 1954, Woodland Stream, oil on board, 12" by 15 7/8", signed lower left, 17 1/2" by 21 1/2" housed in vintage gilded, painted, toned French Louis style reproduction frame, no restorations. Artist studied Art Students League of New York beginning 1886, William Merritt Post's studio in West Morris, Connecticut 1889, traveled to France 1895 to study in Paris and paint in Barbizon. Moved permanently to Auburn, New York 1907 and became known as the "Dean of Auburn Artists." Member of Salmagundi Club, Society of Independent Artists. Exhibited National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Society of Independent Artists, Rochester Art Club.
