| Impressionist, printmaker Louis Oscar Griffith 1875 - 1956, Old Kelp, watercolor on paper, 11 3/4" by 9 3/4" sight, titled on margin, unsigned, 16 3/4" by 14 3/4" housed under glass in contemporary frame, no apparent restorations. Watercolor was obtained from estate with other signed works. Artist studied St. Louis School of Fine Arts 1893, in Dallas with Frank Reaugh 1896, Art Institute of Chicago 1896-1906, in Paris and Brittany 1908, and National Academy of Design. Member Hoosier Salon, Chicago Society of Etchers, New Orleans Art Association, Palette and Chisel Academy, Palette and Chisel Club. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Hoosier Salon, National Academy of Design, New Orleans Art Association, Palette and Chisel Club, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915. | ||
