Frank. A. Barney, Woodland Path
Tonalist/Impressionist Frank A. Barney 1862 - 1954, Woodland Path, 12" by 16", oil on board, signed lower right, 16 3/8" by 20 1/4" housed in gilded, carved Arts and Crafts frame, no restorations. Artist studied Art Students League of New York beginning 1886, William Merritt Post's studio in West Morris, Connecticut 1889, traveled to France 1895 to study in Paris and paint in Barbizon. Moved permanently to Auburn, New York in 1907 and became known as the "Dean of Auburn Artists." Member of Salmagundi Club, Society of Independent Artists. Exhibited National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Society of Independent Artists, Rochester Art Club.
