| Landscape and portrait painter Arthur Merton Hazard 1872 - 1930, Along the Caribbean Road, watercolor and gouache on paper, 18 1/4" by 12 3/8" sight, 26 1/8" by 20 1/8" housed under glass in contemporary wood/gilt frame, no apparent restorations. Artist studied Cowles Art School in Boston, with Joseph DeCamp and Frank Duveneck in Cincinnati, and Henri Blanc and Rene Prinet in Paris. Spent first part of career in Boston, serving as Principal of School of Painting 1904-1917. Member of St. Botolph Club, Copley Society, Salmagundi Club, and Boston Art Students Association. Moved to Los Angeles in 1923 for health reasons. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Boston Art Club, California Art Club, National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. | ||
