Karl Albert Buehr, Strolling Figures in a Landscape
American Impressionist Karl Albert Buehr, Strolling Figures in a Landscape, oil on canvas, 22" by 26", signed lower right, 27" by 31" housed in period gilt moulding frame, lined, no apparent restoration. This landscape exemplifies the strong coloration for which he is noted. Artist studied Academie Julian with Raphael Collin and Art Institute of Chicago with Frank Duveneck. Returned to France 1908 to paint in Giverny, associating with fellow Impressionist Frederick Frieseke. In 1914 returned to the United States and taught at the Art Institute of Chicago, a position he held for the rest of his life. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery Biennial, MacBeth Gallery, National Academy of Design, Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915, Paris Salon, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, St. Louis Exposition-World's Fair 1904.
