| Wilfred Theodore Berg 1908 - 2002, Circus Performers, oil on canvas, 24 1/8" by 19 7/8", signed on canvas edge and stretcher bar, 27 5/8" by 23 3/4" framed in carved polychromed period frame, recently conserved with cleaning and minute inpaint, report available for review. Artist was native of Muskegon, Michigan. Studied at Hackley Art Gallery (now Muskegon Museum of Art) in 1929, painted public murals under WPA in the 1930's, served as Sergeant in U.S. Army during World War II, then studied at Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida during the late 1940's, the period from which this painting originates. He also studied in art schools in Saugatuck and Cape Cod. | ||
