Helen Savier Dumond, Summer Haze
American Impressionist and Realist Helen Savier Dumond 1872 - 1968, Summer Haze, oil on canvas mounted to board, 9 1/2" by 14", estate stamped verso, 17" by 21 1/2" housed in carved 22k gilded Louis XV reproduction frame, no evidence restoration. Artist enrolled 1890 Art Students League of New York, studying under Robert Brandegee and Frank Dumond, whom she would later marry, and Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris under Raphael Collin and Luc Olivier Merson. Exhibited Paris Salon 1897-98. Returned to the US, dividing her time between Old Lyme, Connecticut and New York City. Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Corcoran Gallery, National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915. Member of National Art Club and Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club.
