| August Fields by Norwood Hodge MacGilvary 1874 - 1950, oil on canvas mounted on board. signed lower left with circled thumbprint, titled verso with inventory/exhibition number 212, 10 1/2" by 13 3/4", 16 1/4" by 19 1/2" framed in high quality 22K gold leaf Stanford White reproduction frame. No apparent restorations. Born in Siam to missionary parents. Studied under Jean Paul Laurens at Academie Julian in Paris 1897-1898 and under Myron Barlow at Etaples, France 1904-1906. Became Associate Professor of painting at Carnegie Institute 1921-1943. Member American Watercolor Society, Boston Art Club, Pittsburgh Art Association, Salmagundi Club. Exhibited at Paris Salon, Boston Art Club, Corcoran Gallery, National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Institute, Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915, Salmagundi Club. | ||
