Emma Lampert Cooper, Bridge Near Florence
American Impressionist Emma Lampert Cooper 1855 - 1920, Bridge Near Florence, Italy, oil on academy board, signed lower left, titled verso, 8 1/2" by 10 1/2", 13 7/8" by 15 5/8" framed in high quality carved gold leaf reproduction frame, no apparent restorations. There is a distinct C.C.C. below her signature, perhaps the painting represents a version of a work by Colin Campbell Cooper or a collaboration. Artist graduated Wells College, Aurora, New York. Studied Academie Delecluse in Paris and with Jacob Kever in Holland; Art Students League of New York with Agnes Abbatt and William Merritt Chase; Cooper Union. Traveled widely after her marriage to Colin Campbell Cooper in 1897. Was a founder of Rochester Art Club and taught at Mechanics Institute in Rochester. Exhibited Paris Salon, Boston Art Club, Art Institute of Chicago, Columbian Exposition in Chicago 1893, St. Louis Exposition 1904, National Academy of Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.
