| Snow Shadows, Newton, Massachusetts, 1916 by Dorothy Stanley Emmons 1891 - 1960, oil on board, 10" by 8", signed and dated lower right, titled verso with 1917 Portland Society of Art exhibition tag, framed 15 3/8" by 13 1/4" in contemporary gilded frame, no apparent restorations. Studied at Wellesley College and in Ogunquit, Maine with Charles Woodbury. Lived in Newton, Massachusetts most of her life, but also painted in Charleston, Savannah, Florida, and Bermuda. Studied additionally with Aldro Hibbard, George Noyes, George E. Browne. Exhibited American Artist Professional League, member of Copley Society, Massachusetts Federate Women's Club. | ||
