| Shady Rest, Central Park by Elizabeth Burt Winchell 1890 - 1959, oil on board, signed lower left, 5 7/8" by 7 3/4", 10 1/4" by 11 5/8" framed in contemporary carved gilt reproduction frame. Board is a section of previously used material with partial work verso. Locale is derived from former companion piece labeled Central Park. No restorations. Artist was born in Philadelphia and studied with Daniel Garber, Eliot Daingerfield and W. W. Gilcrist Jr. at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Lived in Freeport, Maine; she was a painter, designer, teacher at Bailey School in Bath, Maine 1939 - 1946. Member of Freeport Art Club and Portland Watercolor Society, American Artists Professional League. Exhibited Brooklyn Museum, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, American Artists Professional League, Catherine Lorrillard Wolfe Club of NYC, and widely throughout New England. | ||
