| Staffordshire Toby Jug with lid. I have had information from a Toby Jug collector in Great Britain that is Toby jug is probably 19th century and most likely not by Pratt or Woods as I thought and stated in my previous description. I have repriced this jug to reflect the new information. As I stated before, I am not an expert in this field and I was able to get more information. It is after glaze decorated polychrome and he is holding a frothing ale jug and clay pipe. The colors in the first two photos best reflect the actual colors of the jug. I am told the lidded ones are less common and usually date earlier in the period. It is in good condition with one small chip in the bottom edge of the base (seen in photos 4,5,8)and some minor polychrome loss which can also be see in the photos and is not unusual for this type of pottery from this period. It is 10 1/4" high to the top of the lid on the hat, 5" wide side to side and 7 1/2" wide from front to back. Please feel free to inquire if you have questions. | |||||||||||||||
