'Burro (Donkey) with Virgen de Guadalupe' by Gabino Reyes A hand carved Virgen de Guadalupe is found in the Burro's underbelly. The Burro is eating grass and accompanied by her baby foal. Made in 2006 This wonderful woodcarving 5 by 9 inches Hand painted and hand carved of copal wood A wonderful example of Oaxacan woodcarving and a fine folk art collectible. Will make a wonderful addition to any art collection. Gabino's work is exceptional, with an emphasis to fine detail. He is among the best of Oaxacan woodcarvers. Gabino Reyes work is referenced in the well known book -- 'Oaxacan Woodcarving: The Magic in the Trees' by Shepard Barbash & Vicki Ragan (Photographer). |
