Japanese mid-late 20th century bamboo box by bamboo art master, Iizuka Shokansai.
Iizuka Shokansai, lived from 1919 to 2004.
His teacher is Iizuka Rokansai who is his father.
Shokansai is one of a person of great bamboo artist Iizuka family.
He was a living national treasure in Showa 57(1982).
Shokansai visited western countries, doing demonstrations of how to make bamboo baskets, and was an early activist in raising the profile of Japanese bamboo art abroad.
From 1979 to 1981, by Imperial Household Agency commission, Shokansai engaged in a survey of bamboo works housed in the Shoso-In.
In recent years, the works of the Iizuka family have been collected not only by Japanese, but also by collectors and art museums worldwide, gaining recognition as supreme examples of the art.
Now, Iizuka Banri who is his son living in Germany, and manage the works, documents, copyrights, and portrait rights of the Iizuka family(including Hosai I (later Houou), Hosai II, Rokansai, and Shokansai).
This item has rectangle form decorated carefully woven in latticework with diamond shape design inserts.
Butterfly and flower design are very lovely and modern.
This box condition is in mint condition.
No repair, no wear and no split.
