Beautiful Japanese lacquer box and tray. It is ornamented with Taka-Makie(rise makie)and mother-of-pearl inlay work. The box has fine chrysanthemum design. The tray has small and beautiful butterfly design. The condition is wonderful except slight minor repair on the base of the box. Dating from Meiji period, 19th century or beginning of 20th century. It comes with original wooden kiri-box, Tomobako.(The writing on the top of rid of Tomobako means cigarette case.) Measurements about: The Box 11.8cm Length, 14.8cm Width, 5.5cm Height. The Tray 18.4cm Length, 21.2cm Width, 1.5cm Height. |
