A stunning vintage 18K yellow gold ring featuring an outstanding 2-carat ruby surrounded by diamonds by Tiffany & Co. Tiffany has not sold rubies since 1999 due to the U.S. embargo of Myanmar, and the design of this ring suggests it was made in the 1950s or 60s. The inside of the shank is marked “Tiffany & Co.” and “18K”.The ring is presented in its original dark blue velvet, satin-lined ring box marked “Tiffany & Co.”. The ruby is fashioned in an oval mixed cut, measuring approximately 8.76 x 6.85 x 3.77 mm. Using the GIA grading system, the color is medium dark, strongly saturated, strongly purplish-red (stpR 6/5). The cut displays good brilliance and proportions and a fair surface finish. The clarity is Type II moderately included. Most importantly, the nature of the inclusions, especially the intact rutile silk, strongly suggest that the stone is of Burmese origin, probably from the Mogok region. There are no indications of heat or other treatment. The pear-shaped brilliant-cut diamonds are estimated at F color, VVS1 clarity. Origin: America, ca. 1960. Condition: light thinning at the back of the shank. Finger Size: 8. Size: 9/16” x 1/2”. Weight: 3.9 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: ruby, 2.0 carats (by weighing); diamond, 1.33 carats (by measurement).

A very fine pair of double-sided cufflinks by Seaman Schepps. Each of the faces is made from a single blue sapphire that has been tumbled rather than faceted, and then set in a framework of curling gold wirework. The setting is substantial, yet its delicacy allows the rich violet-blue color and internal characteristics of the sapphires to take center stage. Schepps was among the earliest of American jewelry designers to use cabochon and tumbled stones as primary gemstones. Even after 50 years, his colorful designs still seem completely contemporary. Each cufflinks is marked for 18K gold, is signed with Schepps’ hallmark and has the design serial number. These links originally retailed for $5,500.Origin: America, ca. 2005. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: faces approximately, 5/8” x 1/2”. Weight: 12.6 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: 34.0 carats.

A wonderful pair of Edwardian earrings in platinum-topped 14K yellow gold. The surmounts, featuring round moonstone cabochons in collet settings, suspend knife-edge drops descending to collet-set diamond above large pear-shaped moonstone cabochons. The moonstones have good blue adularescence against the pale body color. The pear-shaped stones almost have a cat’s-eye effect because of the cutting shape. The large moonstones are set in claw settings with a double gallery that allows light to enter the stones freely. The old European cut diamonds are of good quality. The platinum topping over the gold contributes to the “pale” color scheme that was so important to late Edwardian jewels. The knife-edge mountings are articulated, so the earrings have a lot of movement when being worn. Tested and guaranteed 14K and platinum.Origin: America, ca. 1910. Condition: excellent, earwires are probably replacements. Size: 2-3/16” to top of earwire. Weight: 7.9 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: diamond, .1 ct; moonstone, 14.42 cts.

The amethysts are set in a way that makes them appear the float in the larger gold links, creating a sense of lightness in the bracelet. The clasp is marked “14K”.Origin: America, ca. 1940. Condition: excellent. Size: 7-1/4” long, 3/8” wide. Weight: 14.5 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: diamond, .24 ct; amethyst, 14.0 cts.
