SOLD, PLEASE VISIT US AGAIN!

An exquisite four-piece French silver tea and coffee service in the Empire style by Henri Lapparra, comprising a teapot, coffeepot, sugar and creamer. The rounded bodies, worked along the bottom halves with panels of overlapping acanthus leaves and at the top with narrow egg and dart borders, are raised on acanthus-form pedestals flaring downward to square plinths raised on ball feet in the form of swans with outspread wings. The swan element is magnificently repeated at the pouring spouts of the teapot and coffeepot, the handles of the sugar bowl, and at the base of the ivory handles on the pots and creamer. The upper connectors for the ivory handles repeat the acanthus motif. The hinged lids are finished with the egg and dart border around a center artichoke finial in an acanthus leaf and palmette surround.

L'Orfevre Lapparra is one of France's most elite luxury providers. The founder, Henri Lapparra, made many of the best pieces for Odiot during the last decades of the 19th century. In 1923 he opened his own studio in the heart of Paris on rue du Temple. Today, his company is among the last silversmiths in Paris and its products are extremely sought after.

Each piece is fully hallmarked with the first standard (950/1000 fine silver), which is of higher purity than sterling. Each piece is also marked with Lapparra's hallmark.

Origin: France, ca. 1925. Condition: coffeepot, a 1-1/8" flattened ding on the shoulder; teapot, a few very minor dings on the body; sugar, no dings; creamer, no dings; there is a very faint monogram removal that can only be seen upon VERY close examination in exactly the right raking light; ivory handles have typical cracking and patina consistent with age (in sum, only the large ding on one side of the coffeepot is distracting). Size: coffeepot, 9-13/16" tall; teapot, 9-1/4"; sugar, 8"; creamer, 5-5/8". Total Weight: 3,312.0 grams (106.39 troy ounces).

SOLD, PLEASE VISIT US AGAIN!

A very rare set of five sterling silver dinner knives in Georg Jensen's wonderful Art Deco "Parallel" or "Relief" pattern. Designed in 1931 by Jensen's brother-in-law, O. Gundlach-Pedersen, this pattern makes the most of Art Deco geometry and severity. The plain surfaces are relieved only by a series of stepped parallel lines near the ends of the handles. Each knife is stamped with the post-1945 hallmark. This pattern has not been produced since 1976, and is among the most difficult Jensen patterns to find.

Origin: Denmark, 1945-76. Condition: 3 are good estate condition, 2 others each have a scratch approximately 1/4" long. Size: 9-1/2" long.

NOTE: We also have available 6 round cream soup spoons and 6 dinner forks.
