Exquisite and very rare pair of Art Deco earrings in 14K white gold. The earrings feature 16mm lapis lazuli cabochons suspended from platinum-topped palmette-shaped surmounts set with brilliant- and single-cut diamonds. Two collet-set diamonds separate the lapis pendants from the surmounts, allowing for free movement of the drops. The platinum settings are beaded for added interest. The backs of the earrings are attractively finished with a filigree white gold mounting. Ordinarily, jewelers prefer lapis lazuli with pronounced flecks of gold, but the designer of these earrings chose lapis with white inclusions, thus avoiding an unattractive contrast of yellow and white metallic elements. Tested and guaranteed platinum and 14K gold. Origin: America, ca. 1930. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 1-1/4" long. Weight: 10.0 grams. Approximate Total Diamond Weight: .5 carat. |
