STOCK #: AE050611-03RS CULTURE: Ancient Egyptian DATE: c. Late Period, 27th-30th Dynasty, 525-332 B.C. MATERIAL(S): Faience (rare and highly desirable mix of green, turquoise and black) DIMENSIONS: 4.21” (106.9 mm) tall (without stand) CONDITION: Pristine. No chips, cracks, repairs or abrasions. (quite rare) COMMENTS: An excellent, sizable example of an Ancient Egyptian faience ushabti figure. The colour combination of green, turquoise and black is both rare and highly desirable. This shabti is depicted with a sublime smile, wearing a lappet wig, a braided beard, holding the traditional pick and hoe with a seed bag slung over the left shoulder in order to perform his required chores in the afterlife. Both the back pillar and the T-band of hieroglyphic inscription adorning the front are indicative manufacture in the 27th through 30th Dynasties of the Late Period in Ancient Egyptian history. Though somewhat hard to see, the hieroglyphic inscription undoubtedly dates to the above mentioned time period (See “Egyptian Shabtis” by Harry M. Stewart). This beautiful ushabti comes complete with custom stand. PROVENANCE: From a reputable American Dealer. *Prices in US$ and item is guaranteed authentic. Please see our Sales Policy and AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEE for full details. |
