Eugene Galien-LaLoue, Paris, France, 1854-1941. This wonderful Paris Street Scene in autumn with a Flower Vendor is watercolor and gouache on paper, 7.9"H by 12.7"W in a beautiful period frame 17"H by 21"W. It is in good condition and signed lower left E. Galien-LaLoue. He painted genre scenes, animated landscapes urban scenes and painted under a number of pseudonyms such as Jacque Lievin. After 1877 he showed in Paris Galleries and is best know for the watercolors which are in museums such as Louvre, Mulhouse, La Rochelle. Theodoro Gerard, Gand, Belgian, 1829-1902. This detailed and delightful genre painting is oil on canvas. It is in good condition and is signed lower right, 17 6/8" by 25 5/8" in the original 19th C frame 23 1/8" by 31". Gerard studied at the Gand Ecole des Beaux Arts and moved to Brussels. He was awarded medals in Brussels, Vienna, Philadelphia, London and Dunkerque. He was known for Genre paintings: village feasts and anecdotes of family life in the country painted with clear tones with a freshness of composition and a spontenaity in rendering the personalities of his subjects. This rare autumn landscape is oil on canvas, signed lower right 1889, 14" H by 24" H in the origianl 19th C frame 15" by 35" W. It is in good condition and has been lined. The painting has excellent provenance with several original stickers verso: one from David David Gallery in NY. This painting was very important to the artist and his family as a watercolor of the same scene in the same size is in the home of the Chairman of the Newington Cropsey Foundation and the closet living relative to Cropsey. It was also featured in Arts & Antiques in November, 1989. He is listed in Who was Who in American Art, museums: Museum of Modern Art, Peabody Institute, Baltimore, Cropsey Foundation, NYHS, CGA, NGA, Woodmere, Philadelphia,Karolik Coll., BMFA, HArvard U, Auction Records up to $419,000. He was a central figure in the Hudson River School, and was also an architect and is listed in many publications.

Arthur B.Parton, N.A., Yonkers, New York. This panoramic painting is very atmospheric and glowing. It is oil on canvas signed lower right and is in good condition. The painting is 24" H by 40 1/8"W framed in a lovely frame 32.25"H by 48 3/8"W. Best known for his Adirondack and Catskill Mountain paintings, Parton was a well known figure in the New York art world who exhibited at the National Academy For more than 50 years. He visited Europe where he was influenced by the Barbizon style but his style was still closer to the second generation Hudson River artists.
