Edouard Leon Cortes,Lagny - Torigny, France, French, 1882-1969. This wonderful Paris Street Scene by Cortes is oil on canvas laid on board, 13"H by 18"W, signed lower right in a French Impressionist Frame, 20"H b 24"H. It is in excellent condition and was painted circa 1956. Cortes showed his work and was a member of the Salon des Artistes Francais and the Societe Nationale des Beaux Arts. He was well regarded in his time and his paintings are solidly in the impressionist style with a a exceptional ability to capture the magical light of the seasons: morning, evening, dusk, rain, snow and lights in the city. He is listed in Benezit and in numerous books and his paintings sell for up to $120,000. The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity from Klein.

Narcisse Virgile de la Pena Diaz, French, 1807-1875. This is a lovely portrait of a lovely young maiden and her little dog by her sidein a landscape. This oil on canvas is housed in the original beautiful 19th C frame. It is 21.5"W by 32.5"H (framed - 32.5" by 43.5") It is signed lower left Rome 1960. Born in Bordeaux, France, he was known for his landscapes in the Barbizon Style. He started studying art at an early age and was a student of David. He showed for the first time at the Famous Salon De Paris in 1831 and subsequently every year from 1834-1859. Diaz was a very independent artist who observed the movement of the shadows and light in the small openings in wooded landscapes. He is a painter of the "instant" and is considered a preimpressionist. His paintings are in at least 30 museums: including the Louvre, as well as museums in London, Moscow, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Many cities in France. He has a very extensive auction record as well as a very long listing in Benezit. His painting sell for up to $160,000.

Ernest Gaston Marche, French, 1864-1932, born in Nemours & died in Paris. Impressionist Landscape, o/c. This luminous impressionist landscape is oil on canvas 19.75" H by 25.50" W housed in a beautiful turn of the century gold leaf frame (framed 28.50"H by 34.25"W). It is signed and dated 1907 lower right and inscribed indistinctly Algier.It is in good condition and the edges have been strengthened by a strip lning only on the edge. He is listed in Benezit and his paintings sell for up to $10,000. He is known for landscape and genre paintings and studied with Jules Lefebvre & Tony Robert-Fleury. He was in the Salon des Artistes Francais beginning in 1891 and received medals and prizes in 1895, 1896, 1898, 1899, and a bronze medal in the 1900 in the Exposition Universelle in Paris. He also did many frescoes in the schools of the 8th Paris district. His paintings are in museums: Bourges, Nemours-Draguignon, Troyes and is in Les Petites Peintures de la 1810-1920,Paris 1891.He paintings sell for up to $10,000.
