Joseph (Jusepe) Ribera, Spanish, 1588-1656. This exquisite portrait of a boy brings to mind Caravaggio. Ribera was a highly regarded painter of portrait which, at their, had dramatic lighting such as this portrait. It is oil on canvas and signed faintly with the Monogram J R lower right. It is in good condition, has been relined long ago, and is 34.2cm H by 23.1cm H. It is in an antique frame with outer dimensions of 47.3cm W by 36.8cm H.
