Clarence Hinkle, American, Santa Barbara, CA, 1880-1960, oil on board, 16" X 20", signed on lower right, in a modern American Impressionist frame ( overall 25.5" by 30.5". This atmospheric impressionist painting conveys his interest in City and Landscapes. It is beautifully executed in fluid brush strokes in lovely pastel colors and is probably a scene in San Francisco Cincinnatti or perhaps Philadelphia,. This artist studied in California and Paris, has exhibited in Calif and the Corcoran, work in Museum in Calif and Vermont, teacher and member of art org. References are in Britannica, Dawdy, Hughes, Mallett, Samuels, Who's. There are extensive auction records and he lists up to $35,000.

Frederick William Becker, California, 1888-1974. This beautiful impressionist painting of a stream is 24" by 30" in a 4 1/2" Period Newton Macklin frame. It is in excellent condition, oil on board, signed lower left. The painting is a great example of American Impressionism. An itinerant artist, specializing in landscapes and murals, Frederick Becker was born in Vermillion, South Dakota, and lived in New York City, Oklahoma City, Texas, Taos, New Mexico, and California in Cathedral City and Palm Springs. He studied at the Los Angeles School of Art and Design, the Mackey School of Art, the Art Students League of Los Angeles, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He was head of the fine Arts Department of the University of Oklahoma City and also taught summer art classes there and at the University of New Mexico. While living in San Antonio, Texas, he was the First President of the Society of Texas Artists with headquarters in Austin. One of the early Taos artists, he lived with the Kit Carson family for many seasons. His work is in:Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Sangre De Cristo Arts Center, The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, and The Grace Museum. Becker is listed in Who was Who in American Art, Hughes and Artists in California and his work is represented in Museums.

Nicolaes (Claus Pietersz) Berchem, attributed to, Dutch, 1620-1683. This pastoral landscape is oil on wood panel. Overall dimensions are 10 1/2" x 12". It has 2 old stickers on the back: one with an attribution to Berchem and the other stating its provenance from an English collection. It is an Italianate scene with very fine detail and color. It is in good condition and is quite lovely in a 19th C frame. This painting has been xrayed for age and appears to be 17th C. Berchem is listed in Benezit and his paintings are in numerous museums.

This is a great example of an American Early Modernist Work and was probably executed in the early 1940's. It may be an Adam & Eve reference or a reference to optimism and dispair. The colors are very intense and beautiful.It has been relined and has some old repairs but they are not visible to the naked eye. Weber is listed in Who was who in American Art and his paintings sell for up to $1,650,000.
