| Walter Franklin Lansil, Maine/American,1846-1925, Scene titled "In the Gulf of Venice" on back, signed lower left and verso, oil on canvas, 16" by 20" with an original ornate 3" frame, circa 1897-1903. This magnificent oil is in perfect condition and is painted in beautiful impressionist style. It is a very fine example of his work. He painted boats and ships in American harbors as well as his Venice scenes such as this painting. Listed in Who was Who in American Art, he studied in Maine and Paris, showed widely in Maine, Boston and NY. His paintings go at auction up to $8140. | |
