The knarled root handle and fine wisp of a bamboo branch on one side of this square basket makes this very attractive to tea ceremony buffs. One small "insect stich" mushi-kagari is off one of the corner bamboo strips. Otherwise a stunning tea ceremony basket. c.1910. (18½" x 8½") (46cm x 21cm).
