Sensational early Meiji Period bronze temple lantern, C.1875. Unbelievable fantastic condition with all the hanging bells in tact. The door pull is a bronze cicada, which we have never seen, and the crest in each panel is the holy hock leaf which is the family crest of the Tokugawa Shogun. The lattice work on each door is equally great and the four legs are rock solid. The paper lining the doors needs replacement and we can do it on request.

Wonderful Japanese 'Zushi" zen buddhist travelling altar in black lacquered wood case with gold gilt lacquered inside. Jizo Bosatsu diety inside with halo adorned with three flaming jewels. The jizo also holds the sacred wishing gem and seems like there was a staff in his right hand. Very nice carving out of japanese cypress with serene, enlightened facial expression. The case has opening doors and hinges and latch on front are made of copper/bronze alloy. Slight lacquer wear on the back. Ask for shipping quote. H:20cm x W:11cm

Exceptional zen buddhist temple altar lantern. The flaming jewel at the top has an unusual staff and ball at the top. The lantern dates from the Showa Period c.1950 and actually had the oil plates inside with wicks. They were very gritty so we removed them. The metal is a bronze alloy. The paper lining the inside is original and has some oil stains. We can repaper on request. The little bells hanging on the mythical elephants are missing. Otherwise very good condition. Ask for EMS shipping quote. H:90" x W:38"
